Sebastian's Way: The Pathfinder is George's first novel. Inspiration to write Sebastian’s Way came from sixteen years of the author’s army career in Europe, and from his second career as a professor of history.
Sebastian's Way: The Pathfinder is the first book in The Sebastian Chronicles, a trilogy which continues Sebastian’s Way through the onslaught of the Vikings into Europe in the ninth century, the death of Charlemagne, and the cataclysmic division of his empire into German and French spheres. Through all, Sebastian struggles to maintain the unifying spirit of Charlemagne and his unique and brilliant efforts to establish a “Holy” Roman Empire, bringing Christianity to the newly emerging Europe and restoring order and prosperity to what has been called Europe’s “Dark Ages.”
